چکیده

A well defined lung mass with clear margins and no other signs such as lymphadenopathy, pulmonary infiltration, consolidation, collapse or bone involvement usually indicates a benign lesion, whether a tumour such as an adenoma (carcinoid), cyst or vascular abnormality. Bronchogenic, pericardial and hydatid cysts do not show contrast enhancement, adenomas do enhance but not as significantly as vascular lesions. In this patient not only was the enhancement ofthe mass similar to the cardiac chambers but there was a vein entering the mass and a connection with a left pulmonary vein. Pulmonary varix is a recognized, albeit uncommon, complication of mitral valve disease.

Non–contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography using time-spatial labeling inversion pulse technique for differentiation between pulmonary varix and arteriovenous malformation

Pulmonary varix is a rare entity that presents as a focal aneurysmal dilatation of the pulmonary vein and is frequently mistaken for a pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM). It is important to distinguish between pulmonary varix and PAVM because the former does not usually require treatment. We present the findings of non-contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography with the time-spat...

Cyanoacrylate in the treatment of gastric varices complicated by multiple pulmonary emboli.

Bleeding gastric varices are increasingly being obliterated with the aid of endoscopic injection of n-butyl-cyanoacrylate (histoacryl) diluted with lipiodol. This glue acts as a tissue adhesive that polymerizes on contact with blood in a gastric varix. Severe glue pulmonary embolism is a rare complication of injection therapy. This case involves a 52-year-old man with fundal gastric varices, wh...

A complex pulmonary vein varix -- diagnosis with ECG gated MDCT, MRI and invasive pulmonary angiography.

A case of an asymptomatic 32-year-old male with a complex congenital pulmonary vein varix is reported herein. Chest X-ray incidentally revealed a tubular opacity passing from the periphery of the left lingula to the mediastinum. ECG gated multidetector computed tomography showed the opacity to be a vessel emptying into the left atrium via the left superior pulmonary vein. In addition, a second ...
